How to sideload Torve on Fire TV
- On your Fire TV, go to Settings → My Fire TV → Developer Options. Turn on Apps from Unknown Sources.
- From the home screen, search for the Downloader app (free) and install it.
- Open Downloader and enter the APK URL shown on this page (or use the short link printed in the download card above).
- Wait for the APK to download, then tap Install.
- Once installed, you can delete the APK file to free up space — Torve stays installed.
- Sign in to Torve on your TV with the same email you use on your phone. Your settings sync.
If your Fire TV refuses the install, double-check that Apps from Unknown Sources is enabled and that the APK was downloaded fully.
How to install Torve on Windows
- Click Download installer on this page once the preview build is live.
- Run the downloaded
.exe. If Windows SmartScreen warns about an unrecognised publisher, click More info → Run anyway (we are working on signed-installer support). - Follow the installer prompts. Torve installs to
%LOCALAPPDATA%\Torve\by default. - Launch Torve from the Start menu and sign in with your Torve account.
Why isn't Torve on Amazon Appstore?
Torve is currently distributed via Google Play (Android, Android TV, Google TV) and direct sideload for Fire TV. We don't list on Amazon Appstore at this time. Sideloading the APK gives Fire TV users the same build that Google Play delivers on Android TV, with the same auto-update channel via in-app version checks (we'll prompt you when there's a newer build).
How do updates work for sideloaded builds?
Sideloaded apps don't auto-update via the OS. Torve checks for a newer version on launch and shows an in-app prompt when one is available. You can also re-visit this page and re-install the APK manually whenever you want to update. Settings, watchlist, and integrations stay intact — they're all account-bound.
All direct downloads will be published with SHA-256 checksums alongside each file once the binaries are live. Verify with certutil -hashfile <file> SHA256 on Windows or shasum -a 256 <file> on macOS / Linux.
